I work at building a meaningful connection with each client. Part of building connection is through open and honest communication. My communication style is direct, respectful and compassionate.
We know how good it feels to laugh and how laughter can help build connection to others. We also know that there are mental and physical benefits to laughter. There are natural and appropriate times when humour can appear in the session. This can also help therapy feel less overwhelming.
During the therapy sessions, I aim to promote awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I also provide you with tools and strategies to practice outside of the session, in the real world. My belief is that practice in the real world promotes long lasting growth and change.
You know yourself better than I do. You get to set your goals and guide the session. I value your feedback and use your feedback to tailor each session to your needs. Your feedback allows us to make the best use of our time together.
Hello, my name is Maria Bouzetos. I am a Registered Psychologist with over 10 years of experience working with teens and adults with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, parent-child relationship, grief and loss, infertility, interpersonal challenges, trauma, family of origin, stress management, and life transitions.
We live in an ever-changing world with increased pressure and growing demands that can be difficult to navigate on our own. And, at times, we feel like the life we want to be living is not the life we are currently living. Life’s challenges can come to us a one sudden stressor, a reoccurring stressor, or an accumulation of several stressors that can often lead to a host of mental health challenges.
As a second-generation Greek-Canadian, I value diversity and work from a culturally sensitive perspective. My goal is to create a safe, respectful and non-judgmental environment. I understand that our busy lives can be a barrier to treatment. In an effort to accommodate you, I offer flexible, evening and Saturday appointments that are available in-person or virtual. Let’s work together to connect the pieces in your life and closer to a life you want to be living.
A key to your success in therapy is in building a safe and trusting relationship with your therapist. To support your journey and to address any of your questions or concerns, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. Once you decide that we are a good match, we can start our work together.
